Burial will be in the Worthy Cemetery, with the Rev. V. R. Hylton officiating. A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 27, 2008 at Allison Funeral Service from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
Gene was born on January 4, 1928 in Liberty, TX, to James Earl Worthy Sr. and Maudie Clarisy Moss Worthy. He attended schools in Liberty and was a member of the Baptist Church. Gene married Rosie Lee Davis on October 1, 1949 in Houston, TX. Gene was a maintenance supervisor for the Texas Gulf Sulphur Company and enjoyed hunting, gardening, and his family.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents, a brother: James Earl Worthy, Jr., two sisters: Estelle Rich and Maurice Land. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rosie Lee Worthy,of Liberty, TX., a son: Gene O. Worthy, Jr. and wife Juanita, two daughters: Patty Fenner and husband Jack, Karen Tims and husband Paul, a sister: Iris Threlkeld, and six grandchildren: Anna Guidry and husband Jay, Aaron Worthy and wife Melanie, Candi Foreman and husband Neil, Kelli Tims, Ashley Worthy, and Courtney Tims, and a host of other family members and friends.
