Captain Johnny Ables, 56, of Eaton Rapids, Mich. and a long time resident of Pensacola, died Saturday, March 6, 2004 in Eaton Rapids, Mich.
He was born December 19, 1947 in Lake Wells, Fla. Captain Johnny was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved to travel. He was a former Sea Captain in Florida. Johnny is survived by his wife of 4 1/2 years, Florence C. Ables of Eaton Rapids, Mich.; children, John and his wife, Claudia Ables, Steve and his wife, Karen Cummings, Laura and her husband, John Stevenson, Carl and his wife, Marilyn Reid, all of Florida, April (Henry Centeno) Thomas, Mathew and his wife, Yvonne Thomas, all of Onondaga, Mich., Owen and his wife, Michelle Thomas of Fort Hood, Texas; stepchild, Shelley and her husband, Cody Jones of Alberta, AL., grandchildren, Kristina and Courtney Ables, Dominick, Kayla and Stephanie Cummings, Nicole and Richard Laroche, Natalie Reid, Victoria and Emma-Leigh Centeno and Christian and Paige Thomas, Cheyenne and Cody Jones; five brothers, John (Betty-Lou) Vinciguerra of Calif., Joe (Shelly) Keller of Ohio, John (Jean) Sutton of Ky., Bob (Jean) Sutton of Calif., Vernon Sutton (Robin Bowman) of Fla.; one sister, Jan (Jerry) Jodrey of Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Randy Pittman of Ala.. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 12, 2004, 2:30 p.m. at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids, MI ,(517) 663-5331, with the Rev. Jeff Martin of Lighthouse Tabernacle, Pensacola, officiating. Interment will follow at Onondaga Cemetery, Onondaga, Mich. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Those desiring may make contributions to Ele's Place for Children, 1145 W.
