Obituary - Loreta Irene Carlson

Loreta Irene Carlson, 95, of North Platte died February 3, 1998, at Centennial Park Retirement Village.

She was born September 30, 1902, to Franklin and Elsie S. Ammerman Hoy in a sod house on Garfield Table in Lincoln County.

On January 11, 1934, she married Harry Carlson. They were married for 45 years. They lived on Garfield Table until August 1978, when they moved to North Platte. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Garfield Ladies Aid, Good Neighbor Extension Club, Women's Society of Christian Service of the Arnold Methodist Church and the Christian Women's Society of the United Methodist Church in North Platte.

Mrs. Carlson was a caring and thoughtful person. She loved people and she was happy when she made another person feel happy. She loved her life on the farm and enjoyed gardening, canninc, fixing meals for company and horseback riding. She was always ready for a new challenge. She enjoyed traveling to different countries and learning about the different horticulture in the areas.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Carlson of North Platte; a son, Rodney (Peggy) Carlson of Louisville, Kentucky; and a grandson, Erik Carlson of Lincoln.

She was preceded in death by her husband on November 29, 1979; her parents; two sisters; and four brothers.

A memorial has been established to the church. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Lux officiating.

Burial will be in the Arnold Cemetery in Arnold. Visitation will be noon to 9 p.m. today and from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home.
