Services for Harold H. Hudgins Jr. will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church of Oakdale with the Rev. Betty Northen officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery under direction of Ardoin of Oakdale.


Hudgins, 83, of Oakdale died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, in Rapides Regional Medical Center.


He was a longtime resident of Oakdale and a member of First United Methodist Church. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Lions Club and Masons. After serving in World War II, he returned to Oakdale and started the Hudgins Studio and in 1967 the Oakdale Beacon. He was a three-time Patron of the Eastern Star and a 40-year veteran of bingo calling.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Claudia Hudgins; one sister, Ann Thomas and one grandson.


Survivors include his wife, Ida Redd Hudgins of Oakdale; one son, Harold H. Hudgins III of Arlington, Texas; one daughter, Claudia H. Colquette of Oakdale; one stepdaughter, Wanda Kedinger of Rayne; three brothers, Steve Hudgins of Ocala, Fla., Dan Hudgins of Roanoke, Va., and Joe Hudgins of Greensboro, N.C.; four grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren.


Friends may call from 4-10 p.m. today in the funeral home and from 8 a.m. until time of services Friday in the church.
