Gordon Allen Nichols, 88, of Mt. Belvieu, Texas passed away Sunday, November 9, 2008. He was born on December 7, 1919 to Dan Allen and Virgie (Gregory) Nichols in Gadsden, Alabama. Gordon was a member of First Baptist Church in Mt. Belvieu and was active in the Men's Sunday school as well. Gordon enlisted into the United States Army in 1940 and served until 1945. He enjoyed golfing and oversaw the construction of Eagle Point Golf Course as a volunteer. He was such a good golfer that he hit 3 hole-in-ones in his lifetime. Gordon was great with his hands. He built and played dulcimers and carved many things out of wood. But above all else, Gordon loved spending time with his family.

Gordon is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Christine Chaney; and brother, James Nichols. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Helen Nichols; daughter, Sharon Barrow and husband Richard of Mt. Belvieu; sister, Velida Ozment of Vidor; two grandchildren, Richard Barrow and wife Terrie of Nashville, Tennessee and Brandi King and husband Kevin of Hockley; five great-grandchildren, Ethan and Noah Barrow, Kensington and Britain Williams, and Layne King; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends
