Myrna Leone Banach, age 90, of Battle Creek, passed away on November 6, 2008, in Battle Creek. She was born in Hillsboro, WI, to Chris and Cora (Shreve) Christeson. She graduated in 1936 from Hillsboro High School and was the class Valedictorian. She attended Madison Business College in Madison, WI, and was later employed in Madison and Prescott, WI. In later years she worked for several accounting offices in Battle Creek. Myrna married Philip L. Banach on December 26, 1939, in Hillsboro, WI. Philip died in Battle Creek, on April 3, 2000. Myrna was a former member of Marywood and Battle Creek Country Clubs; former member and secretary of the Battle Creek Kennel Club; and a former member of Retired Officers Association Ladies (Navy League). She was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church and it's Council of Catholic Women. She was also a member of Leila Hospital Auxiliary for many years. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing the piano, reading mysteries and visiting with family. She loved pets, especially cats, and had read all of the "Cat Who" books. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 10, 2008 at St. Philip Catholic Church, 126 Capital Ave. NE, Battle Creek with the Rev. Fr. Charles H. Fischer officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the St. Philip's Memorial Fund or the Humane Society of South Central Michigan.
