Rev. James Landrum Reed was the son of Jesse Yokum Reed and Letitia Landrum. His first wife was Synthia Ann McRee who died within a year of their marriage. He then married her sister, Elizabeth Jane McRee, daughter of Robert Clark McRee and Jane Brooks (both of whom are also buried at Wallace/ McRee Cemetery). He married (third) Sarah McNan and had a total of six children; one by Synthia McRee, four by Elizabeth Jane McRee and one by Sarah McNan. He appears in the 1860 Census of Calhoun County, Georgia, the 1880 Census of Barbour County, Alabama and finally the 1900 Census of Hamilton County. At the end of his life he went to live with his daughter, Margaret Isabella Reed Roberts, where he died on Sept 18, 1905. He is buried beside her in the very back part of Wallace Cemetery in Soddy, Hamilton County, Tennessee.

Descendants who can prove their lineage are eligible for membership in Daughters/Sons/Children of the American Revolution through James Landrum Reed's mother's paternal grandfather and great-grandfather, James Landrum and Young/Younger Landrum, as well as her maternal great grandfather, William Alford.
