Ricky Booker, 53, of Dyersburg, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008 at his residence.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Curry Funeral Home with Bro. Stanley Booker and the Rev. Hershey Schaffner officiating. Burial will be in Zion Hill Cemetery in Friendship.

The family will receive visitors at 9 a.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Ruthie Booker of Dyersburg; a stepson, Michael Sawyer; his mother, Gladys Booker of Dyersburg; three sisters, Billie Runions and Shirley Joyner, both of Dyersburg, and Patsy Austin of Dyer; three brothers, Charles Booker and Stanley Booker, both of Newbern, and Danny Booker of Mason Hall; and two step-grandchildren, Michael Sawyer and Candy Michelle Sawyer.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lofton Booker; and two brothers, Jodie Booker and Larry Wayne Booker.

Larry Wayne 'Moondog Spot' Booker
of DYERSBURG - 51yrs, professional wrestler for 30 years, died Monday, Nov 29 2003 at Methodist Healthcare-University Hospital in Memphis.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Christ the King Church with burial in Zion Hill Cemetery in Friendship. Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola, Ark., has charge.

He was a USWA tag team champion, South Africa tag champion, WWF tag champion, Smoky Mountain Tag champion and a community service worker.

He leaves two daughters, Angela Booker of Kingston and Jennifer Booker of Dyersburg; five sons, Larry William Booker, James Booker, Jody Booker and Jody Wayne Booker, all of Dyersburg, and Chris Booker of Wilson, Ark.; his mother, Gladys Booker of Newbern; three sisters, Billie Runions of Dyersburg, Shirley Joyner of Newbern and Patsy Austin of Dyer; four brothers, Charles Booker and Stanley Booker, both of Newbern, Danny Booker of Mason Hall and Ricky Booker of Dyersburg, and a grandchild, Christian Booker of Wilson, Ark.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lofton Booker; a brother, Jody Booker

Local man dies during wrestling match

A local man whose wrestling career spanned almost three decades died Saturday during a match in Memphis.
Larry Booker, 51, of Newbern, died of an apparent massive heart attack while wrestling at Jerry "The King" Lawler's birthday bout at the Mid- South Coliseum. Booker, whose match name was "Moondog Spot," was since 1976 part of the tag-team with "Moondog Rex." Booker also wrestled under the moniker "Larry Latham."

The 300-pound entertainer, known locally for his dedication to community service to nursing homes, was multiple winner of the U.S. Wrestling Association tag team championship; South African tag team champion; four-time World Wrestling Federation Champion; Smoky Mountain champion and many others. He is known in the wrestling community as the first American wrestler to advertise in Japan.

The funeral is planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Christ the King Church in Dyersburg. Two visitations, one in Osceola, Ark. and the other at Christ the King in Dyersburg, were planned for today.
