James R. Love of Jackson Co., N.C. and Julia Reagan of McMinn Co., Tn married Nov. 18, 1868. They lived at Reagan Station, Tenn

“A member of the House of Representatives at the time of his death from his adopted county, Monroe , Tn. He was an honored son of his State, NC, having served in both branches of the Legislature. A Colonel in the Confederate State Army, he won distinctiion in arms,etc. His brother D L Love.

Col James Robert Love
The closing years of a long and honorable career were spent by Col Love at Sweetwater, Tennessee, where he was held in high esteem, and where his death came as a heavy sorrow to a large community of friends and acquantainances. Col Love was one of the brilliant soldiers on the Confederate side during the war, and gained much prominence in the law and in public affairs.
James Robert Love was born in Jackson County, North Carolina, August 19, 1832. His death occurred on his farm in Sweetwater Valley, near Sweetwater, November 10, 1885, when he was fifty three years of age. The Loves are an old and prominent family of Virginia. Grandfather Thomas Love was born in Virginia, and married a MIss Dillard, of another prominent name in that state. John Bell Love, father of the late Col Love, was born in Virginia, and when a young man moved to North Carolina. In the latter state he aquired large landed possessions, and was both a merchant and a planter. His death occured at the age of eighty two years. He married Margaret Coman of Raleigh, North Carolina. her father came from Ireland and was a merchant. She died in 1890 at the age of eighty years.
Col James R Love, who was the second son in a family of seven sons and five daughters, had an education in the country schools of Jackson county, North Carolina, and later was graduated Bachelor of Arts from Emory and Henry College. He took up the study of law with Col Nick Woodford at Asheville, North Carolina. He was elected to the state sentate in 1884, and served one term, until continued ill health compelled him to give up political activity. He was prominent as a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church South.
On November 11, 1868, at Reagan Station, Tennessee, Col Love married Miss Julia,daughter of General James H Reagan. To the marriage of Col. Love and wife were born eight children, mentioned as follows: A son who died in infancy, Myra Lenoir, wife of J W Lowrey, of Sweetwater, Maggie Bell, who died in her tenth year, Julia, wife of Frank St John, of Johnson City, Tennessee. James Reagan, a farmer of Sweetwater, Elizabeth Avery, a teacher, Robert John, a civil engineer at Sweetwater, Hattie Frank, MD who is a medical missionary to China.
