PARKERSBURG - Edgar M. Leach, 85, of Parkersburg passed away June 30, 2003, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born April 27, 1918, in Moundsville, a son of the late Merle Leach. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He also was a long-time employee of Halls Motor Transit Company where he was an active member of the United States Teamster's Union.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Clara Lucille Cantwell Leach; one son, Russell Thomas and his wife, Betsy, of Williamstown; one sister, Eleanor Stephens of Akron, Ohio; three grandchildren, Wanda Hescht and her husband, Paul, of Parkersburg, Lucy Wilkison and her husband, Larry, of Walker and Russell Thomas Jr. and his wife, Jennifer of Houston, Texas; and six great-grandchildren, Megan Hescht, Ashley Greathouse, Dustin and Josh Wilkison and Jonathon and Sara Beth Thomas.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one brother, Glenn Leach, and three sisters, Maxine Prito, Jean Martin and Becky McClelland.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Paul Morrison officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
