Orla Fender Harris
Mars Hill - Orla Fender Harris, 88, of 91 Higgins Branch Rd., passed away Monday, October 20, 2008, at her residence. She was a native of Madison County and a daughter of the late Lewis A. and Mamie Peek Fender. Orla is also preceded in death by her husband, Hilliard Harris, who passed away in 1975. She was a member of Ivy Chapel Baptist Church.
Surviving are a sister, Evelyn Moss and husband, Bob, of Mars Hill; brothers, Oakley Fender and wife, Jenell, of Mars Hill and Kernan Fender and wife, Sandy, of Hendersonville; several nieces and nephews including special nieces, Penny McNally and Debbie Reese; and special friends, Jeff Lovin and Howell Cody.
The funeral service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, October 23, in Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. The Revs Jake Fender, Gary Fender and Randy Blank will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday prior to the service. The graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Harris Family Cemetery.
