Mr. Carter was the owner and operator of the Delaware Insulation Company in Wilmington until his retirement in the mid-1970's. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Milford, St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Hockessin and Cavalier's Country Club. He was an Army veteran, serving in Panama. His wife, Hedwig Betley Carter, died in January of this year. He is also predeceased by 2 sons, Edwin C. and Arthur Carter. Mr. Carter is survived by 2 sons, John P. with whom he lived and Thomas W. of Wilmington; 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 6 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin. Friends are invited to call on Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, Limestone and Milltown Roads, Wilmington. Entombment will be at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.
