Born Nov. 6, 1916 in Healy to Isaac and Eda (Wedekind) Rich, she was married to Roy Harold Appel on Nov. 10, 1933 at Scott City. He died Feb. 10, 1981 in Scott City.
Mrs Appel worked for 37 years as a nurses' aide at different times in the Scott County rest home, Scott County hospital and Park Lane nursing home, until her retirement in 1994. She also had been a den mother for five years, starting when her son was a Cub Scout.

She was preceded in death by a son, Harold Duane, and a granddaughter, Valerie June Ivey.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Healy United Methodist church, with Rev. Nick Woods officiating. Interment will be in the Healy cemetery, with Price & Sons Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Visitation hours will be until 9 p.m. on Thursday, and from 9-10 a.m. Friday. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimers Association, in care of the funeral home.
