Services for Hazel E. Burgen, 90, Topeka, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel in North Topeka.

Mrs. Burgen died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005, in Topeka.

She was born June 27, 1915, in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of David and May Stadley. She moved to Topeka when she was 7 and resided there the rest of her life.

Mrs. Burgen worked at Kresge's, Hall Lithographing and the State Printer. She was a member of North Topeka Wesleyan Church.

She married Kenneth W. Burgen on Jan. 18, 1932. He died Aug. 8, 1965.

A grandson and two great-grandsons also died earlier.

Survivors include four sons, Kenneth L. and Nelson L. Burgen, both of Topeka, Jerry L. Burgen, Lawrence, and William L. Burgen, Madera, Calif.; a daughter, Lodema L. Betsworth, Chandler, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was sister to David William Steidley/Stadley, who died in 1954 and is also buried at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Topeka Ks.

NOTE: May Lorene LaDuke Steidley/Stadley Northrup changed her married name from Steidley to Stadley when she left the family in Iowa and moved to Topeka Ks. Hazel and David kept the spelling of Stadley.
