Burney Eli Bawcom, 93 of Gunter, Texas, formerly of Searcy, died February 1, 2007 in Frisco, Texas. He was born May 21, 1913 in Line, Arkansas, the son of James Wesley and Carrie Copeland Bawcom. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Louanna McNeil Bawcom; his second wife, Geneva Parrish Bawcom; three brothers, Carroll, Barney and Parker Bawcom; and three sisters, Lilly Thompson, Fairy Arnold and Cumi King. He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law; Dwight and Janet Bawcom of Austin, Texas, Harry and Judy Bawcom of Tempe, Arizona and Dean and Lana Bawcom of Nashville, Tennessee; his daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Roger Hooten of McKinney, Texas; one brother, Elbert Bawcom; one sister, Juanita Gammel; seven grandchildren, Bruce, Mark, Jay and Amanda Bawcom, Any Walker, Alan and Adam Hooten; and five great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Jasper, Jade, Reilly and Renee Bawcom. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, February 9, 2007 at Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 10, 2007 at Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home. Interment will follow at White County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bawcom Scholarship Fund at Harding University, P.O. Box 12238, Searcy, Arkansas, 72143.
