BENAVIDES, Linda Hunter age 73, of Beavercreek died on September 25, 2008 of lung cancer at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton. She was born on April 1, 1935 in Houston, Texas and was raised in San Antonio, Texas. Linda was the daughter of Mary Sides Hunter and Paul B Hunter and the sister of Bryan J. Hunter, all deceased. Artistic from childhood, Linda graduated from St Mary's Hall, a well known Episcopal girls high school in San Antonio, later earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interior Design from the University of Texas, Austin and graduating from the New York School of Interior Design in New York City. On July 11, 1959, she married Louis A. Benavides, also of San Antonio. The couple relocated to the Dayton area in 1966 and, aside from a 2 year deployment to Hampton, Virginia area, has resided in greater Dayton since. For a number of years, Linda worked as an Interior Designer and later owned and operated the Gourmet Pantry, a fine food and gift shop, in Bellbrook, Ohio. Highly civic and philanthropic, Linda volunteered for many charities, including the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society, the Victoria Theatre, and her church of many years, St. Mark's Episcopal. Linda's many artistic gifts were present throughout her life. She earned a fine reputation as a watercolorist and was an excellent and gifted tailor. Other interests at which she excelled were gourmet cooking and bridge. She was also an alumna of the Alpha Tau Chapter of Delta Zeta, a national panhellenic sorority. Linda's family includes her husband of 49 years, Louis A. Benavides, her daughter and son-in-law, Kendall and Anthony Rubino, her son, Hunter W. Benavides, her three grand children, Megan Rubino Oiler, Lauren Rubino, and Justin Rubino, and twin great grand children, Adam and Addison Oiler. A visitation will be held at Tobias Funeral Home, Beavercreek on Wednesday October 1 from 5:00 8:00 p.m. The Funeral will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday October 2nd at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 456 Woodman Dr. Burial will follow at the Beaver Cemetery on Dayton-Xenia Rd, Beavercreek.
