Son of the late Dempsey Ervin and Marie Mamie Mooneyhan Tallon.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of the 82nd Airborne Division, Mr. Tallon was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, an Aviation Badge, an EAMET Campaign Medal with Five Service Stars, a Bronze Service Wheat Medal, a Good Conduct Service Medal, a Purple Heart and a Parachute Infantry Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster. He served in Italy, Sicily, Rome-Arno, the Rhineland, Naples-Foggia and Ardennes, France.

He was a member and former president of the Dillon Lion's Club, former member and president of the Lake View Lions Club, a member of the Dillon County Historical Society, Haven Hospice Society, Hillsborough Masonic Lodge, 82nd Airborne Association and the American Legion. Mr. Tallon was the Retired President of Tomlinson Stores, Inc., and a member of Main Street United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Marvin Rast Sunday School Class.
