EARL ALEXANDER THOMPSON



Earl A. Thompson, 93, Mission, KS passed away Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008 at the Sunrise Assisted Living, Lenexa, KS. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee; burial in the Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel, where a Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m..

Earl was born June 27, 1915 in West Mineral, KS. He was a builder and contractor and was a member of the Greater Kansas City Home Builders Assoc. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Shawnee. Earl was a 32nd Degree Mason and a 50 year member of the Ivanhoe Masonic Lodge #446. Earl lived in Mission, KS for over 60 years and was a member of Half Century Club, recognized for their dedication for making Mission what it is today. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucy (Faoro) Thompson in 1996, brother, James C. Thompson and sister, Esther Bergant. He is survived by his wife, Verla (Hydeman) Thompson; son, Gene and Kathi Thompson, Dawson Springs, KY; two daughters, Elaine Copp and Jim Mattes, Shawnee, KS and Marsha Thompson, Lee's Summit, MO; ten grandchildren, Marshall and Melissa Thompson, Blaine Thompson, Debbie and Rich Underwood, Brian Wiglesworth, Curtis and Kasey Wiglesworth, Buffy Lee, Brent Watson, Sharlisa Waller, Matt and Ryan Mattes; eigh great grandchildren, Clinton, Lucy, Gaven, Caleb, Logun, Gabe, Alexis and Carsen; three step-children, Doug and Debbie Hydeman, Lenexa, KS, Deborah and Mike Switzcynski, Stilwell, KS and Coleen and Chris Bennett, Prairie Village, KS; 12 step-grandchildren and one step-great granddaughter.
