Vincent J Bernardo JR, 68 of 18 Boxwood Rd, Woodcrest, Newport, died Saturday of Leukemia in Christana Hospital.
Mr Bernardo worked at General Motors Corp. Boxwood Rd Plant. for 42 1/2 Years. He retired in 1992. He was a member of St Matthews Catholic Church, and Brookside Chapel Lions Club, where he was past president, past zone chairman, and had 28 years of perfect attendance. He was a member former recording secretary and former editor of the 435 Newsletter of United Auto Workers Local 435. He was a member of the Delaware National Guards unit 736. He is survived by his wife Barbara A; four sons, Michael P of Hockessin, Paul M, at home, Dion V of Wilmington, and Alan T at home, a daughter Susan L. Bailey of Newark; three brothers; Dominic and Paul F, both of Elsmere, and Richard G of Glasgow; and five Grandchildren. Family and Friends may call after 7 p.m. Wednesday at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road. Mass of Christan Burial will be offered 10 a.m. Thursday at St Matthew's Catholic Church, 901 E Newprt Pike. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Kirkwood Highway. Instead of flowers, the family suggests contribution to the Brookside Chapter, Lions Club, 203 Elderfield Road, Newark, 19713.
