Born to Dallas Jack Ingle and Fleta Ballard Ingle, his father died in 1938 when he was only 6. He had five brothers and one sister. They lived in West Asheville around Malvern Hills. He married Bobbie Joann Holcombe in 1951. They had three children, Thomas David, Melinda Ann, and Daniel Lee. Drove a Nabisco truck for 33 years, and worked at Pisgah Elementary untill he retired.
