Retired Master Sgt. WIlliam H. "Bill" Koon, 62, of Vancleave died Sunday, March 29, 1992, in Lake City, Fla. Mr. Koon was a native of Perry, Fla., and had lived on the Coast since 197. He was a veteran of the Air Force and retired after serving in the Korean War and Vietnam War. He received the Vietnam Service Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Longevity Service Award with four Oak Leaf Clusters and the National Defense Service Medal. He worked at Ingalls Shipbuilding as a carpenter until 1986. He was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Abbie Koon. Survivors include a daughter, Sarah Cunningham of Vancleave; five sons, William J. Koon of Gautier, H. Earl Koon and R.A. "Bert" Koon of Vancleave, H. Perry Koon of Abilene, Texas and R.H. "Bobby" Koon of Oxford; two sisters, Mrs. Ouida Henderson of Lynn Haven, Fla., and Gussie Pelham of Jacksonville, Fla., four brothers, Henry Koon of Live Oak, Fla, "Mack" Koon of Lake City, Fla., Charles Koon of Jacksonville and John W. Koon of Yulee, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Visitation will be tonight from 6 until 9 at the Ocean Springs chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home. Services will be at noon Wednesday at the funeral home, with burial in Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors.
