Watseka, IL - Mervin L. Duling, 75, of Watseka, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2008, at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.

He was born March 31, 1933, in Champaign, to Ernest and Irma Lane Duling.

Mr. Duling married Norma Miller at Watseka First United Methodist Church on March 22, 1953; she survives in Watseka.

Mr. Duling served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955.

He worked as a Prudential Life Insurance agent for over 40 years. Mr. Duling was a member of Watseka First United Methodist Church, member and past treasurer of Watseka Union Depot, member of the Watseka Masons, member of Watseka Police Pension Board, CLU, and ChFC; he enjoyed old cars, restoring old cars, and collecting H.O. Trains.

Surviving Mr. Duling along with his wife are two sons and daughters-in-law, Phillip Duling and Anne Newman of Paxton and Larry and Susan Duling of Clinton; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Robert Caldwell of Indianapolis, Ind.; one sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Deane Williams of Akron, Ohio; seven grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mary Lou Crouch.

Visitation will be held for Mr. Duling on Sunday, September 7, 2008, at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka from 4-7 pm and one hour prior to the funeral service on Monday.
Funeral service will be held for Mr. Duling at 11 am on Monday, September 8, 2008, at the funeral home with Pastors Paul Copeland and Hubert Lytle officiating.
Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Watseka.

Memorials in Mr. Duling's name may be made to the Watseka Train Depot, Watseka First United Methodist Church or to the donor's choice.
