Born in Dooly County, he was the son of the late Ashley Quinton Royal and Winnie Mae Dunn Royal. He was a US Army veteran and served in the Philippines and Australia during WWII where he received two purple hearts. He retired from Robins Air Force Base and was the retired owner of Royal Dry Cleaners in Vienna. Mr. Royal was a member of Riverview Baptist Church, the VFW, the American Legion and coached little league baseball for 15 years.
