Mr. Cecil Marion "Speedy" Aldridge, Sr., age 82, of Clifton Forge, died Monday, January 29, 2007 at Alleghany Regional Hospital, Low Moor. For the last two years, Cecil had been a resident of The Brian Center in Low Moor. Cecil was born on January 29, 1925 in Clifton Forge, Virginia, a son of the late Ezra Porter "Jack" Aldridge and Clara Bryant Aldridge. He served our country in the U. S. Army during WWII. He was employed as a laborer with the Lonestar Cement Plant in Fincastle and was a member of the Iron Gate Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Ethel Reid Aldridge of Clifton Forge; one son, Cecil Marion "Pee Wee" Aldridge, Jr. of Clifton Forge; four daughters, Clara Blankenship and husband Charles of Eagle Rock, Barbara Clark and husband Robert of Clifton Forge, Judy Craft of Clifton Forge, and Jean Knick and husband Bobby of Clifton Forge; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great granchildren; one sister, Margie Smith of Goshen; one brother, Charles Aldridge of Iron Gate; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Cecil was preceded in death by a sister Virginia Fridley.
