He was born July 1, 1944, in Elma, son of Elmer and Rosella Frank Gansen. On Oct. 19, 1968, he married Dianne Fitzgerald at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Lourdes.
Mr. Gansen was a 1962 graduate of Immaculate Conception Academy, Elma, then worked at Oliver Farm Equipment, Charles City. In 1969 he went to work for Woolco Department Store, Cedar Falls, until 1971, when he became employed by Tony's Pizza, Washington, as a route salesman. From 1977 to 1980 he operated the Gambles Store, New Hampton, then worked for Hillendale Farms until 1984. He then was employed as a representative for Advantage Sales and Marketing until the present. He was a member of Holy Family Parish St. Joseph Center and also had served in the Iowa Army National Guard.
Survived by: his wife; two daughters, Angela Carpenter of New Hampton and Jennifer (Yiloiz) Santiago of Ankeny; two sons, Scott (Sheyanne) of Menasha, Wis., and Ryan (Jenilee Holstein) of West Des Moines; six grandchildren; a brother, Norbert (Mary) of Fredericksburg; and a sister- in-law, Sharon Gansen of Elma.
Preceded in death by: a brother, James.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Parish, St. Joseph's Center, New Hampton, with burial in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Lourdes. Public visitation from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home, New Hampton, with a 4 p.m. rosary and a 6 p.m. scriptural wake service. Visitation also an hour before services Wednesday at the church.
