Mr. Thomas Franklin Mixon age 89, of Gainesville formerly of Starke passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at the home of his daughter, following a long illness. Mr. Mixon was born on July 14, 1920 in Perry, Florida to the late Allison and Emma Sadler Mixon and moved to Gainesville in 1997 from Starke. Thomas retired from the United States Army as a Chief Warrant Officer (W-3) and was a Catholic. After his military retirement he worked as an appliance repairman. He was preceded in death by his wife Augustine Pellizzari Mixon. Survivors are: daughters: Charlotte Mixon of Gainesville; Dorothy Heath of Buzzards Bay, MA; sisters: Patsy Simmers of Crescent City; Sandra Wolf of Jacksonville; brother: Lex Mixon of South Florida; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home in Starke on Thursday, April 29, 2010 from 5-7 PM. Graveside funeral services for Mr. Mixon will be on Friday, April 30, 2010 at 2:00 PM in Keystone Heights Cemetery.
