Charles was born on December 24, 1926 in Gilman, IL to Arthur F. & Henrietta Helena (Lenz) Brown. His childhood was spent in Gilman. He attended Gilman schools. Mr. Brown was a retired City of Gilman employee. He married Dorathy Mae Schroeder on October 29, 1960 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Gilman. She survives.
Survivors include - five children - Addison W. Brown of Gilman, Becky &(Richard) W. Noble of Boswell, IN., Charles A. Brown and Darrell W. Brown both of Gilman, IL. and Elmer G. Brown of Bloomington, IL. Two grandchildren - Stephanie and Derrick Gossett One brother - Ralph &(Elaine) Brown of Gilman, IL. Pre-decedents - parents, two sisters - Helen Brown and Mary H. Lawson, and two brothers - Arthur L. and Elmer E. Brown.
Charles was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ. An Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict from October 1950 to October 1954. Other memberships include - Gilman American Legion Post 499, VFW Post 2131 Clifton, Gilman and Danforth Historical Societies and the Iroquois County Historical & Genealogical Society.
His funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at the Zion United Church of Christ Gilman, IL with Rev. Connie Williams Moodie officiating. Burial will be in the Gilman Cemetery, Gilman, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, September 21, 2007 at the Redenius Funeral Home, Gilman, IL. Also one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Memorials may be made to the Zion United Church of Christ in Gilman, Gilman or Danforth Historical Society, or Gilman Fire Department.
