Caroline Brass Stratmeyer Abbas was born on a farm east of Lennox, SD on Apr. 16, 1919, the daughter of Ehme and Grace (Knock) Brass. She grew up on the home farm northeast of Lennox.

She married John Stratmeyer on Feb. 16, 1938 at Germantown Presbyterian Church, rural Chancellor. They farmed north of Lennox and later moved to their farm 5 3/4 miles north of Chancellor. John died on May 24, 1943. After his death she moved into Lennox.

On Sep. 23, 1947 she was married to Harold H. Abbas at Luverne, MN. They lived on their farm 5 3/4 miles north of Chancellor their entire married life. He died on Apr. 7, 1984 and she continued to live on the farm since that time.

Besides her two husbands,she was preceded in death by her mother in 1940, her father in 1969, her step-mother, Fanny Brass in 1982; one sister, Annie Brass, as a child, and one grandson, Kevin Klock on Nov. 7, 1991.

Caroline died at Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Viborg on Wed., Apr. 22, 1992, having attained the age of 73 years and six days.

Grateful for having shared her life are her five children and their spouses: Carol J. Klock of Sumner, WA.; Grace J. and Charles Larsen of Hurley, Allen and Deb Abbas of Hurley, Arland and Ellen Abbas of Lennox, and Alwade and Brenda Abbas of Chancellor; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, Harven Brass of Lennox; two half-brothers: Ehme Brass, Jr. of Las Vegas, NV., and Eugene Cockrell of McPherson, KS.; plus several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
