James E. Foust and wife Margaret E. and their children, Ella, Ida C., James E., William J., and Edda (Edward Pendleton) were living in Ozark, Webster Co., Missouri in 1870.
James and Margaret were born in Tennessee; their children in Missouri.

I've been into the Military Records on Fold-3 {for - 2 to 5 - years} and a Book that I purchased in 2007 to Learn of my ancestors Civil War Service. Within the last -2- years I decide to Write a Short Military Bio for Each Man of the Regiment They served in with Seven of my ancestors. * Records contain Discrepancies themselves; but, one needs to read the Full Record, not stop on One Page to figure the 'full story' out. - Ralph Biggs

* Documentation taken from Fold-3 Military Records and a Book confirm the following: James E. Foust {Fouste/Faust, James G.}, age 29, a farmer, born Sullivan County, Tennessee enlisted with the 8th Missouri Volunteer Cavalry, USA on August 02, 1862 in Springfield, Missouri as a Pvt. in Company "E". August/September 1862 On Duty, Work on Fortifications at Fort # 1, in Springfield, Missouri. November 2, 1862 Detailed as Teamster. November 22, 1862 Detailed as Wagoner. February 2, 1863 Letter from Headquarters, 3rd Division, Army of the Frontier: Special Order # 13, '? ? J. Foust is hereby detailed to super??{Supervise} the building of a Ferry Boat by Order of Colonel J. O. Gomer {?}'. April 21, 1863 Absent, On Scout Duty under General Vandever. May 1863 On Duty as Teamster. June 25, 1863 and July 21, 1863 to June 1865 On Duty, Appointed Regimental Carpenter. January 30, 1865 letter from Headquarters, 3rd Brigade, Cavalry Division, 7th Army Corps of Brownsville, Arkansas: 'Lt. Colonel Lisenby, 8th Missouri Volunteer Cavalry will instruct James E. Faust to proceed to Little Rock, Arkansas as directed. He will accompany the party who take the horses to the Rock, they will leave here in the morning. Foust will examine the bridge on his way; by Order of Colonel W. F. Geiger'. July 20, 1865 Mustered Out at Little Rock, Arkansas. - Ralph Biggs

* Noted Discrepancies: Spelling of Name done by Numerous/Different Clerks. * MARKER Inscription shows: Pvt CO E 8 REGT MO VOL INF - I've researched these Records and find NO Documentation for him serving in the Infantry! * ALL Records show: Pvt., Company "E", 8th Missouri Volunteer CAVALRY. THUS, it looks to be 'human error' from the past per inscription. Documented it on one of my ancestors Markers in 2011! {This is a Union Marker.} - Ralph Biggs
