Mary Elizabeth Stand, 93, Adrian, Mo., died December 30, 1996 at the Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler, Mo. The funeral was held Jan. 2 at the Underwood-Steinbeck Funeral Home in Butler with Bro. Bill Perkey officiating. Interment was in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in her memory.
She was born Oct. 4, 1903, in Butler to Steven Douglas and Alia Ann Powell Waldon. She was an accountant for the office of the Bates County Recorder of Deeds. She also was managing accountant for Select-A-Vend in Kansas City, Mo. for many years. She was a former member of the Ohio Street United Methodist Church and a 40-year member of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by three husbands, William Foster, Leonard Short and Bill Stand; and her brother, Roger Allen Walden.
She leaves her son, James F. Ferrel, Bayton, Texas; her granddaughter, Jean C. Ferrel and grandson Jesse V. Ferrel, both of Baytown; and her cousin, Christine Boozer Kenny, Kansas City, Mo.
