David L. Butler, 44, of Memphis, formerly of Dyersburg, died Saturday, March 1, 2008, at The Med.
He was a visual merchandising manager for Goldsmith's/Macy's for 14 years and a member of First Baptist Church in Memphis. He was named Outstanding Young Man of America. He was a 1985 graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin with a degree in interior design. For several years while at Goldsmith's, his store received Store of the Year for its visual designs.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Hickman and the Rev. Grover Westover officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg.
The family will receive visitors from 4:30-7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Survivors include his mother, Rachel Presley Butler Williamson of Dyersburg; his stepfather, Wade Williamson of Dyersburg; a brother, James W. "Jimmy" Butler of Newbern; and his best friend, Carlos Velez of Memphis.
He was preceded in death by his father, Claude Butler.
Pallbearers will be Sonny Sykes, Larry Gibson, Danny Pattat, Danny Presley, Ricky Presley and Carlos Velez.
The family requests that any memorials be made to the Piano Fund of Dyersburg First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 465, Dyersburg, TN 38025.
