JUDITH ANN WATTS ROBERTS, 66, of Memphis, passed away after a courageous battle with lung cancer Thursday, July 24, 2008 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN. She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Lush Watts; mother, Eva Ruth Watts; and husband, Dell Brough Roberts. She is survived by her daughter, Leigh Ann Dauler; son-in-law, Mark Dauler; and grandchildren, Will and Wyatt Dauler; son, Matt Thornton; daughter-in-law, Emily Thornton and grandchildren, Matthew, Thomas and Evelyn Thornton; brother, Alec Watts; sister-in-law, Renee Watts. Judy grew up in Memphis, TN moving to Clarksdale, MS, where she graduated from Clarksdale High School. She attended Mississippi College (Clinton, MS), earning her Bachelors of Education and subsequently her Masters of Education at Delta State University, Cleveland, MS. She resided in Cleveland, MS for over twenty-five years, serving a variety of religious and charitable organizations. She was the church hostess for First Baptist Church for many years, taught elementary school, owned a Christian novelty book store and sang in the church choir during that time. She moved back to Memphis in the early 1990's, teaching elementary school in the greater Memphis metropolitan area and attending Bellevue Baptist Church, where she was an active and vibrant member. She was an avid tennis player, traveler and organizer of friend gatherings; but most of all, she enjoyed being "Mimi" to her five grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, and funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, both at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel, with burial in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest-Hill Irene Rd.
