J. FRANK BYERS, aged 68, Rouzerville, died at 2:30 a.m. today at the Waynesboro Hospital.
He had been in failing health for the last two years and critically ill for the last several weeks. He was admitted to the hospital Wednesday.
Mr. Byers was born at Roadside, the son of David Stoner and Nannie Ellen (Pfoutz) Byer and had lived in the Roadside area until the death of his wife, Pearl J. Byers, in 1948. Since then he had resided with his son, David F. Byers at Rouzerville.
During his early life he was employed as a farm laborer and 42 years ago went to work in the local shops. For 30 years he was employed on the erecting floor at Landis Tool Company. He retired in 1950.
He was a member of the Order of Owls.
Surviving are these children; Mrs. Paul K. Zearfoss, Dover; David F. Byers and Percy G. Byers, both of Rouzerville; Mrs. Wilbur F. Kinley and Claude J. Byers, Waynesboro Route 1; Mrs. Kenneth M. Forsythe, Marion and Mrs. John W. Worley, Dry Run. Twenty-eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral will be held Sunday at 2 P.M. from the Grove Funeral Home conducted by Rev. George Hatchner.
Internment will be in Burns Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call Saturday from 7 until 9 o'clock at the funeral home.
