Viola was born on May 23, 1938 in Frankfort, Kansas to Fay & Mary (Mackey) Newton.
She was of the Catholic Faith. She had been employed at Pearl NuWay laundry for 20 years, then working various jobs before starting at Wal-Mart in 1983, where she worked 25 years retiring in August of 2009. Viola loved spending time on the river property, camping, fishing, visiting her family & she loved scratch off lottery tickets.
Viola was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Arthur Newton & a sister, Florence Walter.
Survivors: daughters, Dianne & Rex Ashworth of Leona, Kansas; Sharon & Galen Pruett of Atchison, Kansas and Sherry & John Ellsworth of Elwood, Kansas. Sons, Bill & Kelly Duncan of Troy, Kansas and James & Susie Duncan of Atchison, Kansas. Seventeen grandchildren 16 great-grandchildren 2 great-great grandchildren & her two special companions, her dogs, Minnie & Oreo, nieces & nephews. Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Friday, November 5, 2010 at the Harman-Rohde Funeral Home in Troy, Kansas. Visitation: 6-8 Thursday evening at the funeral home, where friends may call after 3 pm. Wednesday.
