Mrs. Merle Elizabeth Wolfmeier, 47, died Monday night at 9:12 o'clock at the Callaway Hospital from burns suffered Sunday morning in a fire at the Cook House, a local cafe which she and her husband, Charles F. Wolfmeier, operated. The fire, in which Mr. Wolfmeier suffered minor burns, started at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, when a pan of gasoline which was left on top of a natural gas stove, caught fire. Mrs. Wolfmeier, who was standing nearby, was burned about the face, abdomen and legs. She was born July 4, 1898 in Callaway county, the daughter of Oscar Taylor and the late Mrs. Taylor, and was married in 1917 to C. F. Wolfmeier. She was a member of the Christian church. Besides her husband and father, she is survived by three children, Mrs. Clarence Schoening of Fulton, Pfc. C. T. Wolfmeier, who is in France with the U.S. Army and Gene O'Donald Wolfmeier of the home. Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Arthur B. Daro of Fulton. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the First Christian church, with burial in Hillcrest cemetery. Services will be conducted by the Rev. W. Elbert Starn, pastor of the church.
