When David was four years old, the family moved from eastern Iowa to Marshall Co. and along with the Henry Buck Family, purchased the farm. In 1903 the farm was divided and David's father and mother moved to the western border of the farm, a mile and a quarter north of Rhodes, where a new house was built. David graduated from Rhodes High School class of 1906. He attended Ames college. He worked with his father on the farm until 1/1/1915 when he married. A partnership with David's parents was formed and Charles and Anna moved to Rhodes, where a new home was built. David served at township trustee, was on the school board for ten years, and was an agent for the Marshall Mutual Insurance
