Billie Gene Sams, 84, of Texarkana, AR, died Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at his home. He was born to Jeff and Willie Maddox Sams on April 17, 1924, in Miller County, AR. He was retired from Parks Metal Fabricators, and was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Muriel Sams.
He is survived by one son and "favorite" daughter-in-law, Billy Dale and Rita Sams; two brothers, J.B. Sams and Kenneth Sams; one sister, Irene Swinney; three grandchildren, Jennifer McCollom and her husband, Robby, B.J. Sams and his wife, Nicole, and Jeff Damon Sams; four great-grandchildren, Colton and Sydney McCollom and Eden and Campbell Sams; and numerous "adopted summer-time kids" who enjoyed many hours at Billie Sams farm riding horseback, including his very special friend, John Robert "Johnny Bob" Simmons.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Saturday, July 5, 2008, at Texarkana Funeral Home Chapel, Arkansas. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery.
