Ruth Ann Yargus was born in Clark County, Illinois on Dec. 2, 1894 to Linos and Sarah Kaufman Gilbert. She grew up in Clark and Edgar Counties. She married her first husband William Henry Bailey Mar 16, 1915 in Paris, Illinois. They had two children, William Vernon Bailey on Dec 14 1915 and Kathlyn Mae Bailey on Mar 22 1918. William Bailey died in 1919. On Aug 20 1925, she married her second husband James Martin and they had one child, James Martin Jr. on Dec 10 1926. James Sr died in 1935. On May 6 1945 she married her third husband, Charles W. Harvey in Paris, Illinois. He died in 1948. On Oct 17 1952 she married her fourth and final husband, Charles Martin Yargus in Paris, Illinois. He passed away in 1978. Shortly after her last husbands death she moved to Posey County, Indiana living in Poseyville and New Harmony. She spent her final days at the Harmonie Care Center in New Harmony.

She was a strong woman and loved her family dearly. She is survived by her daughter, Kathlyn Fisher of New Harmony, Indiana; son Dr. James Martin of Dayton, Ohio; half-sister Ina Starkey of Terre Haute, Indiana; 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by all her husbands, her father and mother, and step-mother Elvira Kitchen Gilbert, 3 brothers, 1 sister; 9 half-brothers, and 5 half-sisters.

Burial will be at Auburn Cemetery in Marshall, Illinois.
