Mr. James Henry Simmons

Funeral services for Mr. James Henry Simmons, age 86, of Hazel Green, who died Monday, February 3, 2003 at his residence, will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2003 at 1 p.m. at the Toney Holiness Church with Rev. Charles Underwood and Rev. David Jones officiating.

Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4 until 9 P.M. and Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. until 1 P.M. at the Toney Holiness Church with Gallant Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Simmons was a native of White County, Tenn., son of the late Buddy and Bessie Simmons, owner/operator of Simmons Hardware since 1965, elder member of the Toney Holiness Church. He was known for his honesty, integrity and willingness to help anyone who came along. He was preceded in death by 1 grandson: Eddie Arthur Simmons, Jr., 1 brother: Paul Simmons and 1 sister: Lizzie Drake.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Daisy Walls Simmons, 5 children: Eddie Arthur & Joyce Simmons, Charles & Inez Simmons, Lawrence & Jane Simmons, Novella Simmons, Carl & Sandy Simmons, 10 grandchildren: Sherry Simmons, Carrie & Jimmy Sanders, Anthony Simmons, Denita & Stanley Stinnett, Derek & Deborah Simmons, Rebecca Simmons, Melissa Simmons, Michael & Teresa Simmons, Tim Simmons, Jennifer Simmons, 10 Great Grandchildren: Jamie & Melissa Sanders, Curtis & Alicia Sanders, Adrian Stinnett, Stacey & Bobby Domingue, Kristina & Nathan Jenkins, Roger Simmons, Andrew Stinnett, Aimee Simmons, Dakota Simmons, Devon Simmons, 3 Great-Great Grandchildren: Gabrielle Domingue, Wesley Sanders, Will Sanders, 1 brother: Willis 'Buddy Jr.' Simmons, 4 sisters: Maudie Mae Odell, Ora Bell Bray, Bernice Medlen, Marie Vickers, 1 sister-in-law: Catherine Simmons and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
