OBITUARY :
EMMA E. (MORROW) DOWNIN, 77, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home and 12012 Country Club Road, Waynesboro, died at 11:25 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2003, in the nursing home.

Born June 12, 1925, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late James and Bertha (Baker) Morrow. She was a lifelong resident of Rouzerville and Waynesboro.

She attended Waynesboro schools.

She and her husband, Clarence J. Downin, were married Aug. 12, 1943, in Waynesboro. He died July 5, 1983.

Mrs. Downin lived with her daughter for the past six years and entered Quincy United Methodist Home on April 12.

Mrs. Downin was a homemaker but worked outside the home for Sylvania Shoe Factory in both Waynesboro and Gettysburg. She also worked with the Waynesboro Head Start program.

She attended Elder Day Adult Day Care Center in Waynesboro. She enjoyed bingo, board and card games and shopping.

Mrs. Downin is survived by three daughters, Jeanne M. Lesher of Fayetteville, Kimberly W. Reckner of Wauseon, Ohio, and Robin T. Langlois of Waynesboro; two sons, Joseph C. Downin of Fairfield and the Rev. Terry L. Downin of New Philadelphia, Ohio,; one brother, Robert Morrow of Reading; one sister, Ester Bowders of Waynesboro; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by six sisters: Thelma Helser, Mary Jane Morrow, Dorothy Morrow, Bertha Morrow, Harriet Morrow and Gail Morrow, and six brothers, Frederick Morrow, Lester Morrow, Harvey Morrow, James Morrow, John Morrow and Charles Morrow.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro, with the Rev. John Toms officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
