Levi Shelman Barger was the son of John Barger and Lavica Davis. Levi married Cornelia Ann Ray (b. Mar 22, 1857, daughter of Ezra Camp Ray and Alvira Selby Bloor) Mar 22, 1885 in Perry, Indiana.
Cornelia and Levi had four sons:
- Chester Clure - b. Apr 22, 1887; d. 1900
- Floyd Atlee - b. Feb 24, 1890
- Julius Earl - b. Dec 27, 1891; d. 1944
- Russell Shelman - b. Dec 16, 1894
Levi Barger homesteaded in Kansas and was granted a Land Patent (signed by President Benjamin Harrison) on Feb. 9, 1892.
