Mrs. Fred Brown of Keating, 37, took her life by firing a .22 caliber bullet into her head from an automatic pistol at her home sometime Wednesday. The body was found by her son Frank. when he returned to the family residence from school.
The investigation revealed that Mrs. Brown sat on a bench at the side of her farm residence, placed the muzzle of the gun before her upper teeth, and fired. She is believed to have died almost instantly. Mrs. Brown, whose husband and children were away at the time is believed to have committed suicide because of despondency.
Grace Elizabeth Humphrey was born on April 8, 1896, in Enterprise to George Humphreys and Anna Augusta (___) Humphreys. She was married to Fred Brown in Enterprise in 1916. Mr. and Mrs. Brown moved to Keating in 1918 and have lived there ever since. Mrs. Bown was a member of the Christian Church in Enterprise.
Besides her husband and son, Frank, she is survived by another son, Fred Jr.; a daughter, Millicent; two brothers Price Humphreys of Enterprise and Vale Humphreys of Seneca; a sister, Mrs. Merl Desler of Pendleton; and her mother, Mrs. Humphreys of Seneca.
