The Des Monies Register (IA) January 6, 2003 R. K. "Duke" Allsup, age 90, of the 500 block of Cutler Avenue, died of congestive heart failure Friday at Veterans Medical Center, in Knoxville. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Seventh Day Adventist Church in Dea Moines, of which he was a member. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Allsup was born in Lock Springs, MO, son of Leonard Grant Allsup and Lena L. Alexander. He had lived in the Des Moines area most of his life. He was a retired farmer. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion. He enjoyed gardening and reading poetry. He is survived by his wife Geneva E. (Bean) Allsup; three sons, Kenneth Allsup of Des Moines, David Allsup of Altoona, and Eldon Allsup of New Virginia; seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; three great grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren and a great great grandchild. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Sunset Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to his church.
