Rena Ramsey Willis was born in 1878 in North Carolina. She travelled with her husband, Jason Willis, her parents and children by covered wagon to Arkansas around the turn of the century. Her son, Gaither, was old enough to remember details of the trip. One son died of a fever before they reached their homestead and was buried in the Swain Cemetery.
