Published Friday, October 8, 1909, in "The McLouth Times" - Elijah G. Harris was born in Warren County, Kentucky, February 19, 1824, and died at his home near McLouth, Kansas, October 2, 1909, aged 85 years, 7 months and 17 days.
He married Delitha Edwards April 11, 1853, who died October 4, 1891. To them were born five children, Angeline, who died in infancy, Enoch, who died in childhood, J. R. Harris, Mrs. Angelinah Atwood and Wm. W. Harris who survive them and were present when their father passed away.
He moved from Kentucky to Springdale, Kansas, and lived there eleven years, then moved to the Delaware reserve where he resided until his death. He never allied himself with any church organization but he believed in a supreme being and a future reward for the upright. He was a great reader of the Bible and expressed himself as having no fear of death and was ready to go at any time the Lord might call.
