Floyd E. Bay Dies Friday

Floyd E. Bay, 50, 1806 Caldwell, retired assistant chief of the Columbus fire department, died at 5:40 p.m. Friday at Bartholomew County hospital. He was admitted at 6:30 a.m. Friday of an apparent coronary.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Barkes, Inlow and Weaver funeral home by the Rev. Jerry Day. Burial will be at Garland Brook cemetery.

Persons may call at the funeral home from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday and until time of service Monday.

A native of Morgantown, Bay was born Dec. 18, 1924, to the late Earl Bay and Gladys Allendar Bay of Route 11. He married Virginia Pearl Borden June 9, 1945, and she survives.

Bay retired as assistant fire chief in 1971 after 23 years of service with the department. For many years he was an electrical inspector. Following his retirement he was employed by Cummins Engine company.

He was a member of the Indiana Firemen's association and had served as a trustee of the Berean Bible church where he was a member. Bay was a Navy veteran of the second world war.

Other survivors include two sons, Floyd David Bay, 4740 Timbercrest, and Scott Bay, at home; four daughters, Dianna Bowling of 5152 South Lincoln Village drive, Mrs. Larry D. Fisher of 931 Fifth, and Nancy and Cynthanie Bay, both at home; a brother, John Bay, 813 Short Central; three sisters, Mrs. Virgil Brown of 2819 16th, Mrs. William VanArsdale of Route 11, and Mrs. Denver Dynes of Detroit, Mich., and three grandchildren.
