WALNUT COVE, NC ~ On Friday, May 30, 2008, God opened His arms and carried Hazel Marie Williams Smith to her Heavenly home.
Mrs. Smith, 82, died at home after an extended illness.
She was born July 2, 1925, to Harry Lee and Vada Smith Williams.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Violet Williams Manuel.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Robert "June" S. Smith, Jr.; two daughters: Sylvia S. Alley and Ginger (Nathan) London of Walnut Cove; two sons: Gregory Lee (Tracy) Smith of King and Timothy W. (Devona) Smith of Sandy Ridge; three sisters: Earline (Carlton) Tuttle and Betty W. Smith, both of Germanton, and Frances (Douglas) Heath of Winston-Salem; 12 grandchildren: Melissa (Marty) Mitchell, Deana Alley, Heather Lawson and her fiance Mike, Kristie (Kevin) Biggs, Denise (Bryan) Stewart, Mark London and friend Angel, Terry (Kayla) Smith, Jenna London, Lindsay Smith, Robbie London, Cody Williams and Caleb Williams; six great-grandchildren: Morgan Mitchell, Madeline Mitchell, Jaylin London, Hayden Stewart, Kaleb Biggs and Piper Williamson; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 1, at Rosebud Christian Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening, May 31, at Burroughs Funeral Home.
