Mrs. Burt, 101, died Saturday (April 22, 2000) at Fairview Nursing Home in Dodge Center, where she had lived five years.
Delia L. Every was born March 28, 1899, in Utica Township, Winona County. She grew up in the Utica area and graduated from teacher's college in Winona. She taught school in northern Minnesota until she married Howard C. Burt on Jan. 28, 1921, in Utica. The couple lived and farmed in the Utica, Minnesota City and Rochester areas until moving to rural Byron in 1951. They ran a restaurant in Byron, retiring in 1960. Mr. Burt died in 1969 and Mrs. Burt moved into Byron and then to West Concord in 1992.
She was a member of the Byron United Methodist Church, the Byronia Rebekah Lodge and was a charter member of the Byron American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by four sons, Melvin (Mary) of West Concord, Clifford of Seattle, Arthur (Vivian) of Little Falls, Minn., and Braton "Gene" of California; two daughters, Marjorie Zaferys of Delaware and Leota (Erland) Julson of Rochester; 66 grandchildren; 129 great-grandchildren, and 21 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Frank (Dorothy) Every of Brainerd, Minn.
She was preceded in death by three sons [Fay Charles "Chuck", Reginald, and Ronald Dean], a daughter, two sisters and five brothers.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Dibble Funeral Home in Kasson and an hour before the service Tuesday at the church.
