David was the only child of Everette "Doc" and Eunice Cox Curry. He attended schools in Lufkin, Tx where he was an excellent student and involved in many activities. He was a member of the tennis team at LHS. During his senior year he and one of his best friends competed in the state tournament and became State Champions in Doubles. He attended Rice University in Houston where he made the Dean's list every semester except his first one there. His passing while a student at Rice was somewhat mysterious. He is buried in the Curry plot. His parents survived him.
