Everett was one of the nine children born to Will and Carrie Burdette Curry. He graduated from North Texas Sub-Normal in 1923 and continued his education at North Texas State Teachers College graduating with a B.S. on August 20, 1927. He received his Masters Degree in 1956 from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches. He was an educator of young minds and a coach at high schools in Alba,Freeport, Texas City and Lufkin. He became Vice-Principal at Lufkin High School in 1956 and served in this capacity until 1968. He served as student counselor from 1968 until his retirement in 1970.

At his death he was the last living charter member of the Texas High School Coaches Association.

Everette married Eunice Raye Cox, a lovely, graceful woman and the daughter of a Baptist minister,on July 21, 1935 at her home near Kirk. She and Everette had one son, David Ray, October 22, 1941. He preceded his dad in death on November 1, 1962 and is buried in Lufkin in the Curry plot.
